Showcase Indian Ocean to Bring Investors, Developers to Mauritius.

Showcase Indian Ocean, a regional capital and investment summit, will bring investors, developers, hospitality operators and financiers to Mauritius on Oct. 8 as the event focuses on capital flows, real estate and tourism across the Indian Ocean.

The fourth edition of the Showcase Indian Ocean, formerly known as the API Mauritius & Indian Ocean Property Forum, will be held at the InterContinental Mauritius Resort, according to API Events, the organiser.

The event has been repositioned from a traditional property forum into a broader capital and investment summit, with discussions expected to cover institutional finance, private credit, capital structuring, hospitality investment and emerging real estate sectors.

API Events said the summit will examine Mauritius as an anchor for a wider investment corridor extending across the Maldives, Seychelles, Zanzibar, Madagascar and Réunion, with Mozambique also included in the programme’s regional investment discussions.

The event is expected to attract more than 300 global attendees, including investors, developers, operators and financiers, while more than 60 speakers are scheduled to participate across 14 sessions, according to the event organiser.

API Events’ website lists slightly different headline attendance figures for the broader 2026 programme, including more than 400 total attendees, indicating that final participation may vary by event reporting.

Wayne Godwin, Group Managing Director for International Markets at Broll Property Group, said the Indian Ocean’s established hospitality industry continued to present opportunities for investors seeking entry into the region.

“The Indian Ocean is home to some of the most iconic destinations globally,” Godwin said, according to the event statement.

The Showcase Indian Ocean programme will examine the role of Gulf Cooperation Council family offices and sovereign wealth funds in resort investment, as well as a shift toward direct investment in hospitality, branded residences and mixed-use developments.

Calvin Crick, Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield | Broll Transactions, said investors would need to assess factors including connectivity, infrastructure, demand and execution when considering real estate opportunities in the region.

The summit will also focus on capital-light development models and branded residences, which can reduce the amount of developer equity required for some projects, according to API Events.

The event comes as tourism remains an important driver of investment activity across several Indian Ocean destinations. API Events said Mauritius, Seychelles and Zanzibar recorded record visitor arrivals in 2025.

Hospitality will not be the only focus. The programme includes commercial, industrial, retail and residential real estate, alongside emerging sectors such as senior living, digital-nomad accommodation models and resort logistics.

Natasha Bruwer, Managing Director of Occupier Services at Cushman & Wakefield | Broll, said investors and businesses should not treat the Indian Ocean as one uniform property market because individual jurisdictions have different economic, regulatory and occupier conditions.

“The Indian Ocean should not be viewed as a single real estate market,” Bruwer said, according to the statement.

The distinction is particularly relevant for businesses considering expansion across several island economies, where regulatory frameworks, infrastructure and demand conditions can differ, she said.

The Showcase Indian Ocean agenda will also examine green finance, including the structuring of green bonds against development-finance institution requirements and environmental, social and governance standards used by institutional investors.

Another focus will be the Mauritius Real Estate Index, which organisers say will provide quantitative data for investment analysis and underwriting.

The summit will also examine asset tokenisation and the potential application of artificial intelligence to dealmaking. API Events’ official programme describes the 2026 event as focusing on maturity, private credit and strategic resilience, alongside foreign direct investment, capital structuring and regional growth strategies.

Murray Anderson, Commercial Director at API Events, said the repositioning reflected changes in the regional investment environment and growing demand for a forum covering capital, investment and hospitality rather than property transactions alone.

The event will also feature a design and development track examining the role of master planning and architectural quality in attracting long-term investment.

Godwin said the investment opportunity extended beyond hotels into commercial, industrial, retail and residential property.

For Mauritius, the event places the country at the centre of a broader discussion about how international capital is being deployed across tourism-dependent economies and their real estate markets.

API Events said the summit is designed to connect international investors, hotel brands, policymakers and master developers as the region develops new hospitality and infrastructure projects.

The Showcase Indian Ocean will take place on Oct. 8 at the InterContinental Mauritius Resort. The programme will bring together regional and international participants to discuss investment structures, tourism, real estate development and emerging sources of capital across the Indian Ocean corridor.
