iTrustCapital has launched Q, a suite of AI-formulated quantitative trading strategies that can automatically buy and sell selected cryptocurrencies for customers using self-directed retirement and non-retirement accounts.
The company said iTrustCapital Q uses predefined algorithmic rules to respond to changing market conditions rather than relying on investors to monitor cryptocurrency prices and manually execute trades.
The launch adds another layer of automation to the cryptocurrency investment platform as financial technology companies increasingly bring algorithmic and artificial intelligence tools to individual investors.
Each Q strategy operates according to its own set of rules and monitors market indicators including trends, volatility, relative strength, moving averages and other cycle indicators, iTrustCapital said.
Customers choose whether to activate a strategy and can opt out without an exit fee. The company said some strategies may trade only a few times a year and that there is no guaranteed minimum number of trades.
“This is one of the most important product launches we’ve had at iTrustCapital,” Kevin Maloney, chief executive of iTrustCapital, said in the announcement.
Maloney said Q was designed to address what happens after an investor initially buys cryptocurrency by providing a more systematic approach to deciding when selected assets should be bought or sold.
He also stressed that Q is not a fund or managed account and that its strategies will not necessarily outperform a buy-and-hold approach in every market.
Under iTrustCapital Q, customers remain responsible for selecting and managing the strategy. The company said no iTrustCapital entity selects a strategy or makes individualized discretionary investment decisions on behalf of customers.
The system runs on iTrustCapital’s own trading engine, according to the company. Customers do not need to connect an external trading bot or move assets to another platform to use the feature.
Artificial intelligence was used during the research and development process, including to explore and stress-test strategy designs, iTrustCapital said.
Once a strategy becomes active, however, the company said it follows its predefined rules. The system does not generate new trading instructions independently, retrain itself in real time or change its approach in response to news events.
That distinction separates the product from some forms of AI trading that continuously generate or modify trading signals. iTrustCapital describes Q as a technology feature within a self-directed account rather than an investment advisory service.
The company’s launch comes as AI crypto trading and quantitative strategies gain wider attention among individual investors. Quantitative trading generally uses predefined rules and measurable market signals to make trading decisions, reducing the role of discretionary decisions in execution.
For retail investors, access to such strategies has traditionally involved third-party trading bots, separate platforms or a greater understanding of technical trading systems.
iTrustCapital said Q is intended to bring those systematic trading capabilities into its existing account environment.
The company offers several strategy configurations based on different levels of aggressiveness, although it did not say that any strategy would produce a particular return or avoid losses.
iTrustCapital also cautioned that performance information associated with Q may include hypothetical, backtested or modeled results based on historical data and does not represent actual customer trading results.
The company said past performance is not an indication or guarantee of future results and that investors can lose some or all of the money they invest.
The warnings are particularly relevant to cryptocurrency markets, where prices can move sharply and where automated execution does not eliminate investment risk.
iTrustCapital said customers can activate, deactivate or change their selected strategies and may run more than one strategy.
The company’s platform provides access to more than 100 cryptocurrencies, as well as stocks, exchange-traded funds and physical precious metals, according to the announcement.
The company has also expanded its product range during 2026. In August, iTrustCapital announced that stocks and ETFs had become available across its tax-advantaged IRA and Premium Custody Account offerings.
The launch of iTrustCapital Q therefore comes as the company broadens the range of assets and technology available through its investment platform.
For investors considering AI crypto trading strategies, the key difference with Q is that artificial intelligence was used to help develop the strategies, while the live strategies themselves operate according to predefined rules.
The company said Q is available now through eligible self-directed retirement and non-retirement accounts.
iTrustCapital does not describe Q as personalized investment advice. Customers remain responsible for their own investment decisions, while the company says the availability of a particular strategy should not be interpreted as a recommendation to buy, sell or hold a digital asset.
