Bitcoin Millionaire Wallets Surge 10% in August as Price Hits 3-Month High.

The number of Bitcoin wallets holding at least $1 million in the cryptocurrency rose by 11,636 in August, a 10.4% increase, as bitcoin prices climbed to their highest level since May, according to data compiled by crypto research firm Finbold.

Finbold, citing figures from blockchain tracking site BitInfoCharts and archived data from the Wayback Machine, said the number of addresses holding more than $1 million worth of bitcoin rose to 123,482 by August 31 from 111,846 in late July.

The increase extended to larger holders as well. Wallets containing more than $10 million in bitcoin climbed to 15,584 from 14,009 over the same period, a rise of 1,575, or 11.24%, Finbold said.

Bitcoin traded at $78,092 as of Finbold’s report, up 21.46% over the previous 30 days and at its highest level in three months, the firm said.

The gains mark a reversal after a prolonged slump in cryptocurrency markets earlier in the year. Finbold said the August rebound “offered a glimpse” that the broader crypto bear market could be nearing an end, though the firm cautioned that the number of Bitcoin millionaire wallets remains below levels recorded at the start of 2026.

According to an April report from Finbold, there were 131,125 addresses holding more than $1 million in bitcoin at that time, meaning the August total of 123,482 is still 6.19% lower than the January level. Wallets with more than $10 million in bitcoin numbered 16,355 in the earlier report, or 4.95% more than the current tally, Finbold said.

The comparison suggests that while August’s rally has restored some wealth to bitcoin holders, the market has not yet fully recovered the ground lost during the downturn.

Finbold noted that its wallet-based methodology has limitations. Because a single investor can control more than one bitcoin address, the number of “millionaire” wallets does not necessarily correspond to the number of individual people who hold at least $1 million in the cryptocurrency.

The actual number of bitcoin millionaires could be higher or lower than the wallet count depending on how holdings are distributed across addresses.

Some market analysts believe bitcoin could extend its gains toward, or beyond, $100,000 before the end of 2026. Ali Martinez, a trader who publishes bitcoin analysis on the social media platform X, said he expects one more significant price correction before any further rally, according to commentary cited by Finbold.

Bitcoin’s price movements this year have tracked broader shifts in investor sentiment toward risk assets, with the cryptocurrency alternating between sharp rallies and steep pullbacks.

The asset remains highly volatile compared with traditional financial instruments, and analysts have repeatedly cautioned against reading short-term price swings as confirmation of a durable trend.

The rise in bitcoin millionaire wallets came during a week of broader activity across cryptocurrency markets. Separate reports this week highlighted large flows into spot XRP exchange-traded funds and continued accumulation of digital assets by institutional investors, underscoring renewed interest in the sector after months of subdued trading.

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market value, is often used as a bellwether for sentiment across the broader digital asset market. Its price is determined by trading across global exchanges and is not backed by any central bank or government.

Finbold’s data reflects on-chain wallet balances rather than self-reported wealth, a method commonly used by blockchain analytics firms to estimate the distribution of cryptocurrency holdings. Such figures are widely cited by industry researchers but are not audited by independent third parties.
